Stop Outsourcing
“You are your own teacher. Looking for teachers can’t solve your own doubts. Investigate yourself to find the truth — inside, not outside. Knowing yourself is most important.”
Ajanh Chah
From an early age, you have been taught to seek guidance. If your tummy hurts, you go see the doctor. If your roof is leaking, you call the roofer. If you need assistance with your taxes, you hire an accountant.
There is nothing wrong with receiving help, especially if the problem is outside your scope.
But who knows your mind better than you do? Nobody.
Yet, our first action to resolve our mental and emotional challenges is outward. And when this approach doesn’t work, we look for escapes (intoxicants, sex, church, work, marathon running, etc.) so we don’t have to confront our own minds.
Stop running from your mind and discontinue outsourcing wisdom. Your mind is waiting for you to train it; it needs its teacher (you).
